Who could not love a puppy? Until they chew up your
best slippers, that is! Here are some tips to make your puppy's life, and
yours, a little easier.
Your dog will need to have his nails cut throughout his life. If you
have a puppy, play with his feet often so he will be used to be having his paws
handled.
A puppy must learn to inhibit his biting by four months.
Normally he does this when he plays with his siblings and mother. If
you can, allow your puppy to play with others of his age to help nature
teach him not to bite. See if there are puppy training classes in your
area if you don't have littermates for the puppy to play with.
Try to have your puppy socialize with children during his
first four months. This will help him to be friendly towards children
throughout his life.
Never hit or kick your dog! This will cause him to
lose trust in you.
If your puppy begins to bite something he shouldn't,
immediately guide him towards a toy he is allowed to bite.
Now that you have your puppy, it is time for
house training!
