The French Bulldog is a short dog with prominent eyes, jowls and bat-like ears.  They are playful and affectionate.  These dogs do not do well without companionship.  These dogs love the family, but may bond strongly to one person.  Personalities range from rather serious to fun-loving and silly.  French Bulldogs make many noises, such as grunting, snoring and snuffling.  They may also slobber a good deal.

Training

French Bulldogs are willful and require patient and consistent training.  They are often difficult to housetrain.

Exercise

The French Bulldog will make a good apartment dog.  He does not bark much, and does not require a lot of exercise.

Grooming

Although this is a short-haired dog, his hair will stick firmly to furniture and carpets when shedding.

Health

Due to his large round eyes, the French Bulldog is prone to eye injury.  Be sure to protect his eyes on windy days and in similar situations.  The French Bulldog is known for great flatulence, so feeding him the proper, healthy food is a must.

Please spay or neuter your English Bulldog.  Females often require c-sections due to the size of the puppy heads.

Hot weather, particularly humid, will bother your French Bulldog.  He will have breathing problems, so please keep him inside on stifling, hot days.  He may also suffer later in life from joint diseases, heart defects or spinal disorders.
