Both the Smooth Fox Terrier and the Wire Fox Terrier are alike despite the
difference in fur type. They were raised to fox hunt. This breed has
a square build, short back and is mostly white. This dog averages between
15 and 19 pounds. The Fox Terrier is intelligent, energetic and friendly.
He can be a good family dog, but may be a bit excitable for younger children.
You must have a fenced yard for the Fox Terrier, with plenty of room to run.
This Terrier loves to dig, so this may not be the dog for you if an impeccable
yard is your dream. The Fox Terrier has a chasing instinct. Always
keep a strong hold on the leash during walks. If your Fox Terrier sees a
small animal nearby, he may take off quickly and unexpectedly.
Supervise this breed with small animals. The Fox Terrier may chase and
possibly injure smaller pets.
