Dog Vaccinations

Every dog should be seen regularly by a veterinarian and receive both shots and heartworm prevention.  Single dogs that stay mostly indoors may be given 5-way vaccines.  These protect against Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Hepatitis and Parainfluenza. If your dog is around other animals including wildlife, he or she may be given a 7-way vaccine, which adds protection from Coronavirus to the mix.

Your veterinarian may recommend different vaccinations depending on where you live and what lifestyle your dog leads.  If Canine Coronavirus can be found in your area, your dog will most likely receive a vaccination for this.  If your hometown is prone to ticks, it is suggested your dog have a Lyme vaccination.  Furthermore, dogs that will be traveling or boarded should receive the Bordetella vaccine, which will protect your dog from Kennel Cough, or tracheobronchitis.
