Feeding Your Cat

In most cases, cats should always have access to full bowls of water and dry cat food.  The better the quality of food you use, the healthier your cat will be.  Be sure to read the label of your cat food when shopping, steering clear of fillers.  You want the first ingredient to be meat, chicken or fish.

If your cat is overweight, the vet may recommend a prescription diet and will tell you how often the cat should eat.  For cats who have a history of UTI’s or crystals in their urine, it is imperative that you use a specialty food recommended by your veterinarian.

Contrary to popular belief, milk is not good for cats.  Adult cats are lactose intolerant and will suffer from diarrhea after ingesting milk.

You can buy cat grasses at local pet stores.  This is healthy for the cat, and can keep them from going after your house plants.  Click here for a list of safe house plants.
